UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 5631 Schevers Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 5631 Schevers Street about 11:05 p.m. on Wednesday (September 30).

The suspect, Cardell D. Taylor (b/m, 40), is charged with murder in the 338th State District Court.  He is accused in the death of Bruce Wayne Ferguson, 47, who was pronounced deceased at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Daignault and Detective K. Heaverlo reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a residence at the above address and learned Mr. Ferguson had been shot and transported by paramedics to the hospital.

According to witnesses, an unknown male suspect drove to the residence and, after getting into a verbal altercation, fired multiple shots at the residence and struck Ferguson.  The suspect then fled the scene in a white Chevrolet Malibu before police arrived.

Further investigation identified Taylor as the suspect in this case and, on Thursday (October 1), a murder charge was filed against him.
