UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 3738 Faulkner Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman at 3738 Faulkner Street that occurred about 1:45 a.m. on August 8.

The suspect, Tranisha Latavia Miller, 25, is charged with murder and aggravated assault of a family member in the 338th State District Court. A photo of Miller, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.

She is accused in the death of Chante Wilson, 21.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington and M. Holbrook and Detective A. Ferrell reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the above address and found the victim had been shot multiple times in the upper torso.  The victim, later identified as Ms. Wilson, was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation revealed Wilson had been walking from the corner store when the suspect, described only as a black female, 18 to 22 years of age, ambushed Wilson.  The suspect had hidden between parked cars and, as Wilson walked by, the suspect jumped out and began shooting.  The suspect then fled the scene eastbound on Faulkner Street toward Scott Street in a red Nissan Cube or small four-door sedan.

Further investigation identified the suspect as Miller and she was subsequently charged for her role in the incident.  Miller remains at-large.
