UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 2111 San Jacinto Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted  in the fatal shooting of a man and the wounding of another at 2111 San Jacinto Street that occurred about 2:55 p.m. on Monday (July 31).  

The suspect, Jahdari Hatton, 24, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 337th State District Court.  A September 2021 booking photo of Hatton, who is not in custody at this time, is attached to this news release.

The victim has been identified as Jonathan Pettway, 26.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N. Lazo and Detective M. Providence reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a convenience store at the above address and found a male suffering a gun shot wound.  Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim, later identified as Mr. Pettway, to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A second male suffered a graze wound and was treated and released at the scene.

Investigators learned that a fight broke out inside of the store, which led to a suspect producing a firearm and firing multiple rounds into the store.  Pettway and the other male were struck.

Further investigation identified Hatton as the suspect in this case and, on Thursday (August 3) he was charged for his role in the incident.  Hatton remains at large.
