Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a male that occurred at 12929 Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) service road about 11:15 a.m. on March 13.
The suspect, Gabriel Jesus Rangel, also known as Gabriel Calixto (H/m, 17), is charged with manslaughter in the 337th State District Court. He is accused in the death of Angel Hernandez-Martinez, 17.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives N. Sharp and K. Fregia reported:
Mr. Hernandez-Martinez was dropped off at the Signature Care Emergency Center at 1014 Wirt Road by four unknown individuals in an older-model, tan Cadillac. He had been shot in the chest and was reported deceased at the emergency center. It was later discovered the shooting occurred at the Red Roof Inn at the above address on the Northwest Freeway service road. Witnesses spoke with detectives and claimed the shooting was accidental.
Further investigation identified the suspect as Gabriel Jesus Rangel, alias Gabriel Calixto. He is not in custody at this time.
