UPDATE: Suspect Charged in Shooting at 11460 Fuqua Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted for the shooting of a man at 11460 Fuqua Street about 10:45 p.m. on August 21.

The suspect, David J. Spears (w/m, 27), is charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count each of deadly conduct and felon in possession of a firearm in the 209th State District Court.

The victim, Anthony Lee Reyes, 30, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers V. Habukiha and R. Naughton reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and learned the victim was a security guard working at the location.  The guard (Mr. Reyes) observed a male suspect choking a female in the parking lot.  When Reyes went to the female’s assistance, the suspect fired several shots at him, striking Reyes in the leg.  The suspect fled the scene and then fired shots at another male at an apartment complex at 11144 Fuqua.  That male was not struck.

Further investigation identified Spears as the suspect in this case and charges were filed on Saturday (August 24).
