Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man found at 9000 Renwick Drive about 11:50 p.m. on February 27, 2021.
The suspect, Trevon Peace, 20, is charged with capital murder in the 176th State District Court. A booking photo of Peace is attached to this news release. He is accused in the death of Treveon Buckner, 30.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Detective J. Escobar reported:
Mr. Buckner stopped at a gas station in the 6000 block of the Southwest Freeway service road and met with several friends. While Buckner met with friends, he left his vehicle, a 2012 Buick Regal, running near the gas pumps and walked away. The suspect got into the driver’s seat of Buckner’s vehicle and drove out of the parking lot.
Buckner gave chase on foot and managed to catch up to his vehicle and jumped into the front passenger seat. Witnesses who pursued the auto theft lost sight of the vehicle.
The vehicle was later located at the above address. When witnesses approached the vehicle, they found Buckner deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
Further investigation identified Peace as the suspect. He is currently in the Harris County Joint Processing Center on unrelated charges. He was charged with capital murder on Thursday (March 31) for his involvement in Buckner’s death.
