UPDATE: Suspect Arrested in August 2024 Fatal Shooting at 7900 Sunbury Street

A suspect charged and wanted in the investigation into the fatal shooting of a man found at 7900 Sunbury Street about 6 a.m. on August 27, 2024 is in custody.

The suspect, Ellender Green, 45, is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court.  A booking photo of Green is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Jeremiah Standokes, 49.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Cass and Detective J. Brown reported:

HPD officers responded to a person found deceased call near a transit bus stop at the above address and learned a male had been shot.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim, Mr. Standokes, deceased.

At that time, there were no known witnesses or suspects.

Further investigation identified Green, aka Pinky, as a suspect in this case. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Green was subsequently charged with a felony.  At that time, Green’s whereabouts were unknown.

On January 30, Green was arrested by officers from the HPD Narcotics Tactical Team on an unrelated felony warrant.  Green spoke with homicide detectives and admitted to her involvement in Standokes’ shooting.  The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Green was charged in Standokes’ death and booked into the Harris County Jail.
