UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Man’s Death at 7100 Lyons Avenue

Charges have been filed against a suspect in the death of a man found at 7100 Lyons Avenue about 12:30 a.m. last Thursday (May 2).

The suspect, Bernardino Serna Cueva (H/m, 40), is charged with murder in the 263rd State District Court.

The identity of the victim, 58, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives T. Jackson and J. Young reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to the above address regarding a cutting call and arrived to find the victim being loaded by paramedics into an ambulance.  Prior to being transported, the victim told police he had been attacked, unprovoked, by a male suspect.  The victim, who sustained blunt force trauma to his head, lost consciousness and was then transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The suspect was described only as a Hispanic male.

Further investigation identified Bernardino Cueva as the suspect in this case and he was arrested without incident last Friday (May 3) and subsequently charged.
