Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of two other persons at 2000 Fannin Street about 2:45 p.m. on June 19.
The suspect, Donald Wells (b/m, 36), is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court. An April 2021 booking photo of Wells is attached to this news release.
One victim, Dan Poole, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Thompson and L. Patterson reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found Houston Fire Department paramedics providing medical assistance to two persons who had been shot. A third victim (Mr. Poole) was found lying on the sidewalk deceased. He had been shot multiple times. The two surviving victims were transported to an area hospital.
Further investigation led to the identification of Wells as a suspect in this case and, on July 11, he was charged with murder. On July 30, the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Wells in Broomfield, Colorado. He currently awaits extradition to Houston.
