UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 9780 Country Creek Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 9780 Country Creek Street about 2:15 a.m. on November 17.

The suspect, Darius Lamont Davis-Woodard, 22, is charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Davis-Woodard is attached to this news release.

He is accused for his role in the killing of Christopher Flores, 18.  HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Dudley and K. Heaverlo reported:  HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to a shooting outside an after-hours night club at the above address and found Mr. Flores with a gunshot wound.  Multiple bystanders attempted to provide first aid, however Flores was pronounced deceased by paramedics.  A preliminary investigation indicated Flores and another male were walking from their home to a nearby gas station when they were approached by two unknown males.  One suspect approached both men and grabbed them by their collars while yelling at them.  The confrontation resulted in the male suspect putting Flores in a headlock and then shooting him.  Both suspects then fled the scene on foot.  The male with the victim initially fled on foot for his safety, but then returned to the scene.  The suspects were described as one black male (shooter) and one Hispanic male with long hair.

Further investigation identified Davis-Woodard as the shooter.  He was taken into custody on Saturday (Nov. 26) and questioned by detectives.  He was subsequently booked into jail and charged in the case.  Anyone with information on the other suspect in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
