Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 9500 West Sam Houston Parkway about 2:30 p.m. on March 15.
The male suspect, 16, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges. Juvenile information and booking photos are not releasable.
The victim is identified as Jairo Funez-Guifarro, 28.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detective C. Vaughn reported:
HPD homicide detectives were advised by HPD patrol officers that an adult male was transported by private vehicle to an area hospital after being shot during an altercation with a suspect(s) in another vehicle. Doctors pronounced the male, later identified as Mr. Funez-Guifarro, deceased a short time later.
A preliminary investigation indicated Funez-Guifarro was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle when the suspect vehicle drove past. Shots were fired from inside the suspect vehicle and the victim was struck.
The incident was determined to have occurred at the above address.
At that time, there was no known suspect description.
Further investigation identified the 16-year-old male as the shooter in this case. He was arrested on Wednesday (May 29) by the HPD Westside Patrol Division Gang Divisional Unit without incident.
