Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 8228 Swiss Lane about 7:30 p.m. on June 15.
The suspect, Shane Henry, 20, is charged with capital murder in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Henry is attached to this news release.
He is accused in the death of Anthony Merchant, 59.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Watson and Detectives R. Waterwall, A. Dudley, and K. Heaverlo reported:
Officers were dispatched to a shooting call outside the residence at the above address and found Mr. Merchant unresponsive in the street. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported Merchant to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake where he was pronounced deceased. The unknown suspect(s) fled the scene before officers arrived.
Further investigation identified Henry as the suspect in this case. He was subsequently arrested and charged on Wednesday (October 12).
Detectives also learned Merchant was a family member of a man fatally shot at the same residence two nights earlier (June 13). The investigation into the June 13 fatal shooting is ongoing.
