Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 6060 Gulfton Street about noon on April 18.
Gabreal Dechassa Geleta, 30, is charged with murder in the 486th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Geleta is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Nathaniel Carl Mendez-Ma, 24.
HPD Homicide Division Officer E. Torres II and K. Stringer reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of an apartment complex at the above address. They located an unresponsive male in the driver seat of a vehicle. He had suffered at least one gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Investigators learned the victim was parked near the rear of the complex when he was approached and shot by at least one unknown suspect. Further investigation identified the suspect as Geleta and, on Friday (April 24) he was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail.
