UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5714 North Freeway

Investigators have arrested one suspect and are searching for an unidentified person of interest in the fatal shooting of a man at 5714 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) service road about 5:55 p.m. on January 21.

The suspect, David Cleo Elliott, 43, is charged with capital murder in the 232nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Elliott is attached to this news release.

The victim, William Henry Blake, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Watson and Detective P. Pak reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found the victim unresponsive and lying on the ground.  He had suffered a gunshot wound to the torso.  Witnesses reported seeing at least two persons running from the location after a single gunshot was heard.

Further investigation identified Elliott as a suspect in this case.  Officers arrested Elliott on Saturday (February 5).  Investigators learned Elliott was accompanied by another male, who is pictured in a surveillance image attached to this news release.
