Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 5610 Royal Palms Street about 6:30 p.m. on April 23.
The suspect, Reginald Dewayne Howard, 51, is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court. A booking photo of Howard is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Pelatiah Moore, 40.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Brooks and C. Davidson reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex at the above address and found the victim unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the man, later identified as Mr. Moore, to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation and witness statements determined Moore and an unknown suspect(s) got into a verbal altercation just before the shooting. The suspect, described at that time only as a black male – 40 to 45 years of age – fled the scene in a silver, four-door sedan of unknown make or model, driven by a black female with short hair and glasses.
Further investigation identified Howard as the shooter in this case and a murder charge was filed. Howard was arrested on Monday (April 29) by officers with the HPD Southeast Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team without incident. The female driver of the vehicle was identified, questioned and released without charges.
