Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a male that occurred at 4900 Doolittle Boulevard about 9:55 p.m. on Saturday (June 11).
Dione Mathis, aka Dione Brown, 23, is charged with murder in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Mathis is attached to this news release.
The victim, Kelvin Shaver, 18, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants A. Grimes and K. Persad reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address. They found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds nearby in the 7300 block of Guadalcanal Road. Investigators learned the victim was shot outside a residence at 5009 Doolittle Boulevard. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to Ben Taub Hospital, where doctors pronounced him deceased.
Investigators learned the victim and the unknown suspect had a verbal argument minutes before the shooting. The suspect fled in a Black Chevrolet Impala.
Further investigation identified the suspect as Dione Mathis and, on August 10, he was charged for his role in the shooting. On Thursday (August 25) he turned himself into the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and was taken into custody.
