Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 4805 Lyons about 2:25 p.m. on June 16.
The suspect, Kevin Brantley (b/m, 21), is charged with capital murder in the 209th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Calvin Freeman, 43, of Houston, who was pronounced deceased at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Rhodes and Officer E. May reported:
Mr. Freeman, along with a friend, was in front of his business at the above address when two suspects drove up. The two got out of the vehicle, rushed toward Freeman and his friend, and attempted to rob them. Freeman attempted to flee and was shot multiple times. His friend was physically assaulted and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspects then fled in a light brown Hyundai.
Further investigation identified Brantley as a suspect in this case. He was taken into custody on Wednesday (December 6) without incident. One other unknown suspect remains at large.
