UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 4200 Sherwood Lane

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one male and wounding of another male at 4200 Sherwood Lane about 2 a.m. on Dec. 1, 2023.

The suspect, Jaydon Williams, 17, is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 337th State District Court. A booking photo of Williams is attached to this news release.

The deceased male is identified as Joseph Barrios, 15.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective L. Lange reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found a juvenile male, later identified as Barrios, unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the juvenile deceased.

A second male, 17, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported by private vehicle to an area hospital.  He is expected to survive his injuries.

Investigators learned Barrios and Williams went to the location to commit an armed robbery of two males, 15 and 17.  The 17-year-old victim fired shots at Barrios, striking him.  Barrios also fired shots striking the victim.  No one else was injured. Williams fled the scene on foot.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and, on January 2, Williams was charged for his role in the incident.  Williams was arrested today (January 10) by the HPD Gang Division’s Crime Reduction Unit and transported to the Harris County Jail.
