Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 4000 Lumber Lane about 9:45 p.m. on Thursday (May 18).
Calvert Donta Cloud, 41, is charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of Cloud is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 36, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Wilson and Detective J. Escobar reported:
Officers were dispatched to a hospital check call for a male with multiple gunshot wounds who arrived in a private vehicle to Harris Health Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital at 5656 Kelley Street. Doctors pronounced him deceased a short time later.
A witness told officers she was with the victim at 4000 Lumber Lane when he was shot by a black male suspect after an altercation. She stated the victim was placed into her vehicle after the shooting and she drove him to the nearest hospital.
Further investigation identified Cloud as a suspect in this case and, on Wednesday (May 24), he was arrested by members of the HPD Gang Division Crime Reduction Unit.
