Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman at 322 San Julio Drive about 9 a.m. on July 10.
The suspect, Tiffany Michelle Peteet (w/f, 33), is charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the 232nd State District Court. She is accused in the death of Donna Abshire, 57, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives B. Rothberg and A. Barr reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to an alarm at a residence at the above address and were unable to reach anyone inside. The officers contacted the home owner’s daughter, who then met them at the home. After she unlocked the door, officers conducted a welfare check and found the victim, later identified as Ms. Abshire, deceased inside. She had sustained a gunshot wound.
Further investigation identified Peteet as the suspect in this case. Peteet was arrested on Tuesday (August 31) without incident and was subsequently charged for her role in Abshire’s death.
Peteet was out on multiple felony bonds at the time of this incident, including felony theft, theft of a firearm and felony criminal mischief.
