Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 14434 Hempstead Road about 3 a.m. on October 13.
The suspect, Robert Hickman (b/m, 28), is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court. A photo of Hickman is not available at this time, pending further investigation.
The victim, Lamar Leaphart, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Simmons and Detectives T. Andrade, R. Rivera and J. Young reported:
The victim, Mr. Leaphart, was at a lounge at the above address when he and a group of males got into an argument inside the business. Leaphart ran outside to the parking lot where he was involved in a physical fight and shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further investigation led to the identification of Hickman as a suspect in this case and he was subsequently arrested and charged for his role in the incident.
