UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 14001 Fondren Road

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a male found at 14001 Fondren Road about 1:35 a.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 18).

The suspect, Joeslin Arencibya (b/m, 38), is charged with murder in the 434th State District Court in Fort Bend County. A booking photo of Arencibya is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the death of Johnavon Anderson, 26.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Elsbury and Detective D. Arnold reported:

Mr. Anderson was found deceased from gunshot wounds in an apartment complex parking lot at the above address.  A resident reported finding Anderson after going outside to investigate a loud noise in the parking lot.

Later the same day, at about 8:30 a.m., Arencibya was arrested by Harris County Precinct 7 deputies after they responded to reports of an armed male walking in traffic in the 7600 block of the South Sam Houston Parkway at Hillcroft Avenue.  Arencibya was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 232nd State District Court in Harris County for pointing a firearm at a passing female motorist.

Further investigation determined Arencibya matched the physical description of the suspect who shot and killed Anderson.  Additional evidence was discovered that linked Arencibya to the shooting and he was charged for his role in Anderson’s death.  Arencibya remains in custody in the Harris County Jail and is currently awaiting transfer to the Fort Bend County Jail.
