UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 11501 U.S. Highway 90

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 11501 U.S. Highway 90 about 10:15 p.m. on Monday (June 26).  

The suspect, Angelita Moreno Contreras, 47, is charged with murder and intoxication manslaughter in the 232nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Contreras is not available for release at this time as she remains hospitalized.

The identity of the deceased male victim, 22, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. James and Officer T. Syed reported:

The victim was a passenger in a maroon Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck traveling southbound near the above address.  A preliminary investigation and evidence from the scene indicated the pickup truck appeared to have been struck by a gray Chevrolet Equinox, also traveling southbound.  The impact caused the pickup truck to veer off the road, strike a median pillar and continue off the roadway to a grassy area.

Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.  Contreras, the driver of the Chevrolet, and the male driver, 23, of the Dodge were transported to area hospitals.

Contreras was determined  to be impaired and was subsequently charged for her role in the crash.
