Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal assault of a woman that occurred at 5200 Telephone Road about 2:10 a.m. on Sunday (June 3).
The suspect, Rigoberto A. Caballero Escobar (H/m, 35) is charged with murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 338th State District Court.

He is accused in the death of Dixa Rios, 38, of Houston, who died at the scene. Three male victims, Adan Salgado, 36, Celso Velasquez, 32, and Maneesh Roberts, 46, were transported to area hospitals with possible broken bones. Their conditions are not known at this time
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Horn and Detective B. Roberts reported:
HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the above address after it was reported several people had been run over by a pickup truck. Upon arrival, paramedics pronounced Ms. Rios deceased and transported the other three victims to area hospitals for treatment.
An initial investigation revealed Caballero Escobar, an ex-boyfriend of Rios, observed her crossing the street towards JoJo's Club at the above address. He drove his vehicle, running over Rios at least three times, as well as striking anyone near her, before fleeing the scene in his Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Further investigation determined Caballero Escobar was arrested on an unrelated DWI charge about 40 minutes after the incident. Caballero Escobar was interviewed by investigators and admitted to intentionally striking Rios with his truck.
