UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Crash at 2400 Fulton

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a crash at 2400 Fulton about noon on October 9 in which the suspect fled the scene with the female crash victim.

The suspect, Thomas Arrington (w/m, 54), is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 185th State District Court. A photo of Arrington is attached to this news release.

The female victim, 48, suffered severe head trauma and is expected to recover. In cases such as these, those that wish to take legal action for the events resulting in their injury should have a knowledge of the number of parties involved in a claim and other details of the incident to present to lawyers who can handle the case and get the responsible parties to pay accordingly for whatever damage was done. Incidents involving vehicles can be very deadly and it’s important to hold those responsible to account to deter others from replicating such recklessness.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives T. Colbert and R. Ridel reported:

According to witnesses, a male was driving a pickup truck southbound on Fulton near the 610 North Loop. A female was crossing the street along the Metro rail tracks when the suspect drove over the speed bumps, U-turned and ran directly into the female, who was knocked unconscious.

The suspect attempted to leave, but witnesses followed him until he returned back to the female to check on her. As he loaded the woman into his truck, the suspect told witnesses the female was his wife and that he was taking her to Ben Taub General Hospital.

On Thursday (Oct. 19), investigators released the below surveillance photos of the suspect (Arrington) and his truck, an older model, turquoise Ford F-150. A tip was received on Arrington’s whereabouts and he was taken into custody for questioning.

Arrington admitted to his role in the crash and said the victim was his girlfriend. Officers located the victim, who said she received numerous stitches for a head injury. The woman stated she and Arrington got into an argument and she exited the truck. Arrington then struck her as she walked on the rail tracks. The victim confirmed Arrington did take her to the hospital.
