UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in August Fatal Shooting at 10401 West Bellfort Avenue

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another found at 10401 West Bellfort Avenue about 3:35 a.m. on Aug. 26.

The suspect, Davion McMullen, 30, is charged with murder and aggravated assault in the 174th State District Court.  A booking photo of McMullen is attached to this news release.

The deceased victim has been identified as Jessie Quiroz, 38.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Sharp and E. May reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found a male lying on the side walk.  He had suffered at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

A second male victim, 40, was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At that time, there was no known motive or suspect(s).

Further investigation determined one male got into a verbal altercation with a suspect, later identified as McMullen, who then pulled out a firearm and fired several shots at the male, who was struck.

Mr. Quiroz, who was not involved in the altercation and walking a distance behind the wounded male, was also struck by the gunfire.  The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and McMullen was subsequently charged.

On Wednesday (September 11), McMullen was arrested by members of the HPD South Gessner Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team and he was booked into the Harris County Jail.
