UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in April Fatal Shooting at 9000 Braesmont Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 9000 Braesmont Drive about 7 p.m. on April 12.

The suspect, Kwamaine Tarver, 27, is charged with capital murder in the 262nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Tarver, courtesy of the Will County Illinois Sheriff’s Office, is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Robert Travis, 26.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant E. Wohlgemuth and Detective J. Gardner reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex at the above address and found Mr. Travis inside a vacant apartment.  He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounce Travis deceased.

Investigators believe robbery was a motive in the shooting.

Further investigation identified Tarver as the suspect in this case and, on August 3, Tarver was arrested in Will County, Illinois on a capital murder warrant.  Tarver was formally charged last Friday (August 5) and is awaiting extradition back to Harris County.
