Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 7127 Alder Drive about 5:05 p.m. on September 2, 2023
Jose Manuel Camacho, 20, is charged with murder in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Camacho is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Christopher Arellano, 21.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants A. Lopez and M. Arrington and Detective N. Sharp reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a business at the above address and learned Mr. Arellano had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle.
Witnesses told officers Arellano was working on a car when a suspect opened fire, striking him multiple times. The suspect fled the scene on foot.
Doctors pronounced Arellano deceased on September 3, 2023.
At the time, the suspect was only described as an Hispanic male, about 6 feet tall with a slim build. He was wearing a black hoodie and khaki pants.
Further investigation identified the Camacho as the suspect in this case and, on Friday (March 22), he was arrested by the HPD South Gessner Crime Suppression Team without incident and subsequently charged.
