UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in 2021 Death of Female Found at 12300 Sandpiper Drive

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a female found at 12300 Sandpiper Drive about 10:50 a.m. on September 11, 2021.

The suspect, Fidel Baquin, 33, is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of his common-law wife, Stephanie Marie Hernandez, 43.

HPD Homicide Division Detective S. Sylvester reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a report of a deceased person found in large black trash bags at the above address.  Witnesses reported the bags were not at the location prior to 8:15 the same morning.

Investigators later identified the victim as Ms. Hernandez. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences ruled her cause of death was ligature strangulation.

Further investigation identified Baquin as a suspect in the case and he was subsequently charged.  Members of the HPD South Gessner Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team arrested Baquin on Thursday (October 27) without incident.
