Charges have been filed against one of three suspects in the fatal shooting of a juvenile male and the wounding of a man at 2400 Teague Road about 4:30 p.m. on April 14.
One suspect, Alexander Klein (w/m, 19), is charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 185th State District Court. He was taken into custody on July 17. A booking photo of Klein is not available for release at this time, pending further investigation.
A second known suspect, 17, is not yet charged.
Investigators are asking for assistance in identifying a third suspect, who reportedly goes by the name “Mikey.” He is believed to be Hispanic, 17 to 22 years old, between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall with dark, medium length hair. He is believed to be an associate of suspect Klein’s and possibly attended school in the Spring Branch area. The suspect’s left ear is definitely pierced and his right ear may possibly be pierced. A surveillance photo of this unknown suspect is attached to this news release.
One victim, Jonathan Carmona, 15, was pronounced deceased at an area hospital. The second victim, Gustavo Carmona, 18, was treated at an area hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Arrington and J. Osborn reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address. The two victims, who are brothers, were with two other males in a vehicle when they were approached by two unknown male suspects. One of the suspects produced a handgun and fired several shots into the vehicle, striking the two victims. The four males in the vehicle then fled the scene.
The males were subsequently involved in a crash about two miles away in the 1400 block of Shadowdale Drive. The gunshot victims were then transported to an area hospital.
Further investigation determined that three suspects were involved in the attempted robbery. Klein, believed to be the shooter, was apprehended on July 17 and subsequently charged. The two other males are being sought.
