UPDATE: One Suspect Arrested, Another Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 7700 Corporate Drive

Houston police have arrested one suspect and are seeking assistance in locating a second male charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 7700 Corporate Drive about 7:15 p.m. on Sunday (March 6).

The wanted suspect, Marco Zavala, 20, is charged with capital murder in the 180th State District Court.  A 2021 booking photo of Marco Zavala is attached to this news release.

The other suspect, Luiz Zavala, 19, is also charged with capital murder in the same court.  A booking photo of Luiz Zavala is attached to this news release.  The Zavalas are brothers.

They are wanted in the killing of Angel Rodriguez, 18.

HPD Homicide Division Detective E. Wohlgemuth and J. Gardner reported:

Officers responded to a report of gunshots at the above address and found the victim (Mr. Rodriguez) lying in the grass in the apartment complex common area.  He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased.  Witnesses stated two Hispanic males ran and then carjacked a person at gunpoint in the parking lot.  The suspects then fled in the stolen vehicle, a black Chevrolet Tracker.  The vehicle was found abandoned the next day in the 8900 block of Gustine Road.

Further investigation identified Luiz Zavala and his brother, Marco Zavala, as suspects in this case.  Luiz Zavala was taken into custody on Tuesday (March 8).  He was subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.
