Houston police detectives say further investigation has determined a suspect fleeing from officers at 707 Greens Road about 12:30 a.m. on February 28 did not fire a shot at HPD officers in the incident.
The unknown suspect remains at large and is wanted for evading arrest at this time.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers A. Williams and B. Salazar reported:
Patrol officers encountered a suspicious male (suspect) at a bus stop near the above address. The male ran from officers eastbound on Greens Road and into an apartment complex at the above address. As officers were pursuing the male on foot, it was believed the male fired one shot at the officers. The suspect then managed to elude the officers and fled the area. No one was injured and no officers discharged a weapon.
Further investigation and surveillance video revealed the suspect threw a gun and shattered the back window of a sport utility vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex. The sound of the shattered window near them led officers to believe they were being shot at.
The gun was later recovered from the vehicle.
Anyone with information on the identity of the wanted suspect or in this incident is urged to contact the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division at 713-308-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
