UPDATE: Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 16425 Imperial Valley Drive

The fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 16425 Imperial Valley Drive about 10:25 p.m. on June 3 will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The deceased male is identified as Joshua Fowlkes, 30.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. LaFour and Detectives M. Castillo, M. Nicotra and K. Clark reported:

Officers responded to a shooting at a nearby address at 400 North Sam Houston Parkway East and did not locate any victim or suspects despite canvassing the area.  A short time later, officers received a call at a nearby apartment complex of a male who had been shot multiple times.  Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the male, later identified as Fowlkes, to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation determined Fowlkes had been involved in a verbal argument prior to a confrontation in a parking lot at the above address.  Shots were fired during the confrontation and Fowlkes was struck multiple times.  The male shooter fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.

Investigators determined that employees of a nearby McDonalds were not involved in the incident and the incident did not occur within the restaurant or on its property.

The shooter later turned himself in to authorities at the Harris County Jail. Detectives interviewed him and consulted with the Harris County District Attorney’s Officer. It was determined the case will be presented to a grand jury for review.
