A second male injured in a crash that occurred at 800 North Post Oak Road about 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday (March 13) had died from his injuries.
The identity of the male, 17, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer T. Riley reported:
The driver of a silver Mercedes Benz C43 was observed by an HPD Traffic Enforcement officer to be traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on the Katy Freeway service road (East Interstate Highway 10). The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, losing sight of the suspect when he ran a red light at the Katy Freeway and Silber. According to witnesses, the suspect then ran a red light at the above address on North Post Oak Road, lost control of his vehicle, drove off the roadway, and fell onto the Katy Freeway entrance ramp. Witnesses alerted HPD officers to the location of the crash.
Both the suspect and his passenger were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital. The passenger was pronounced dead a short time later. The driver was pronounced dead on Friday (March 15).
The investigation is continuing.
