Houston police have learned the identities of six people who died in a crash at 2000 Fannin Street about 2 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 11).
The five deceased men are identified as Izuchu Oragwu, 31, Frank Johnson, 31, Zachary McMillian, 32, Derek Hayden, 33, and Christian Herrera, 25. The deceased woman is identified as Lauren Robinson, 32.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Hall and Officer T. Riley reported:
The investigation and evidence determined that Ms. Robinson was driving a black Acura SUV eastbound on Pierce Street with a green light at the intersection with Fannin Street. A black Chrysler 300, driven by Christian Herrera, was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Fannin Street when he ran the red light and struck the Acura. The impact caused three persons in the Acura to be ejected. The Chrysler left the roadway, went onto a sidewalk and struck Mr. Johnson, a pedestrian.
Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene. Paramedics also pronounced Mr. Johnson and Mr. Oragwu deceased. Mr. McMilllian and Mr. Hayden were later pronounced deceased at an area hospital. Two other passengers in the Acura – a male, 32, and a female, 30, remain hospitalized. The woman is in critical, but stable condition and the man is in stable condition. Both victims are able to talk.At this time, it is not believed there were any passengers in the Chrysler.
