Charges have been upgraded against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 12114 Tambourine Drive about 5:25 a.m. on Tuesday (January 2).
The suspect, Yaquelin Artiga-Rosales, 30, was initially charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 182nd State District Court. The charge has now been upgraded to murder in the 182nd State District Court. A booking photo of Artiga-Rosales is attached to this news release.
Artiga-Rosales is charged in the shooting of the victim, 26, who was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective M. Deleon reported:
Artiga-Rosales shot her brother and then called 9-1-1 and informed police she was the person responsible for the shooting. HPD patrol officers responded to the scene, detained Artiga-Rosales without incident and recovered the weapon used in the shooting.
On Wednesday (Jan. 10), the victim passed away from his injuries.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was notified and charges against Artiga-Rosales, who was in custody at the Harris County Jail, were upgraded.
