Suspects Charged, Wanted in Assault at 11054 Briar Forest Drive

Charges have been filed against two suspects wanted in the stabbing of a man at 11054 Briar Forest Drive about 4:25 p.m. last Friday (August 18).

The suspects, Maria Moore Cheeks, 52, and Anthony Lee White, 56, are charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 232nd State District Court. Previous booking photos of both suspects, who are not in custody, are attached to this news release.

John Lee Hollins, III, 52, suffered multiple stab wounds and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective A. Shaikh reported:

Officers responded to a report of a cutting at a gas station at the above address and found Mr. Hollins had been stabbed multiple times. He was transported to an area hospital by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.

Further investigation determined Hollins was stabbed by his roommate (Cheeks) and her boyfriend (White) during an argument near the gas station. Officers learned Hollins had accused Cheeks of stealing his check and both Cheeks and White attacked him with a knife and brass knuckles. Cheeks and White then fled the scene in a red sedan in an unknown direction.

Both Cheeks and White remain at-large.
