Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the death of an infant that occurred at 6511 Beekman Road about 8:30 a.m. on October 2, 2022.
The suspects, Lionel Guerrero, 33, and Yalitza Macias, 27, are both charged with injury to a child-serious bodily injury in the 263rd State District Court. Booking photos of Guerrero and Macias are attached to this news release.
They are accused in the death of their two-month-old son.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Hollohazy and Detectives C. Bowling, J. Jorsch and L. Gonzales reported:
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the infant from the above address to Texas Children’s Hospital, where doctors pronounced him deceased. Guerrero and Macias indicated they had been sleeping and woke up to find their child not breathing.
An autopsy found the infant had suffered numerous internal injuries as well as evidence of previously healed injuries.
Further investigation identified Guerrero and Macias as the primary caregivers for the infant and, on March 28, both where charged in the case. On Thursday (March 30), both suspects were arrested by officers with HPD’s Southeast Crime Suppression Team without incident.
