Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 11810 Chimney Rock Road about 1 a.m. on January 24.
The suspect, Luis Benitez-Mejia, 29, is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court. A 2016 booking photo of Benitez-Mejia is attached to this news release.
The victim, Jeronimo Erazo Centeno, 40, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Lopez and Detective N. Sharp reported: Mr. Centeno was found in his vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex at the above address. He had been shot multiple times. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to the hospital.Detectives were searching for a person of interest, described only as a Hispanic male in his late 20s, seen in a blue Ford Explorer Sport Trac.
Further investigation led to the identity of Benitez-Mejia as the suspect in this case and he was subsequently charged.
