Suspect Charged, Wanted in Shooting at 7337 Parkes Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 7337 Parkes Street about 1:55 a.m. on November 26.

The suspect, Jordan Newell (b/m, 20), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 179th State District Court for his role in the wounding of Eric West, 43.

A May 2020 booking photo of Newell is attached to this news release.  He is not in custody.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer A. Hernandez reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call at 5022 Werner Street about 2:10 a.m. on November 26 and were told that Mr. West was asleep inside the residence when a suspect fired multiple shots into the home.  West was struck in the chest and arm.  Officers were told the shooting appeared to be a continuation of a dispute between West and a suspect that resulted in West being shot in the early morning hours.

Further investigation determined that about 15 minutes earlier, West and a female went to the rental property at the above address (7337 Parkes) after receiving a complaint that a male (Newell) was at the location, armed with a gun and attempting to take his daughter from the child’s mother.  Newell fired shots in West’s direction, striking West and his truck in the driveway.  West was shot in the leg as he ran from his truck.

A short time later, officers received the call to the Werner Street location to take the report from West.  Paramedics transported West to an area hospital for treatment of his wounds.

At this time, Newell is charged and wanted in the Parkes Street shooting.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jordan Newell is urged to contact the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division at 713-308-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
