Suspect Charged, Wanted in Shooting at 5914 Gulfton Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of a man at 5914 Gulfton Street about 1:55 a.m. on Monday (January 1).  

The suspect, Solomon Tadesse, 21, is charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury in the 351st State District Court.  A December 2022 booking photo of Tadesse, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.  

The victim, 34, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Sergeant V. Garcia and Detective A. Garcia reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call outside a bar/lounge at the above address and found the victim with a gunshot wound.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the man to the hospital.

A preliminary investigation determined the shooting occurred in an alleyway behind the business.

The suspect was described only as a black male in his early 20s, with short black hair and wearing a black hoodie.

Further investigation identified Tadesse as the suspect in this case.  The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Tadesse was subsequently charged for his role in the incident.  He remains at large.
