Suspect Charged, Wanted in Shooting at 16001 Cotillion Drive

Houston police have charged a suspect wanted in the shooting of a male at 16001 Cotillion Drive about 10:15 p.m. on July 30, 2022.

The suspect, Santos Donai Vasquez Mendez, 20, also known as “Querobin”, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 185th State District Court. A photo of Vasquez Mendez, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the shooting of Jairo Montufar Oliva, 25, who was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer I. Rios-Hernandez and D. Crandall reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the above address and found Mr. Oliva lying on the ground of his 2nd floor apartment patio. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to hospital.

Witnesses stated multiple males were drinking at the apartment when Oliva came over and they all hung out for some time. When Oliva was ready to leave, one of the suspects pointed a firearm at him and shot him multiple times. Both suspect then fled on foot in a unknown direction.

Further investigation led to the identification of Vasquez Mendez as a suspect in this case and he was subsequently charged for his role in the shooting. Vasquez Mendez is currently at-large.
