Suspect Charged, Wanted in March Shooting at 4913 Fuqua Street

Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the shooting of four men at 4913 Fuqua Street about 3:05 a.m. on March 11.

The suspect, Marquis James, 30, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 351st State District Court.  A photo of James, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release.

Marquis and three other males, 23, 33, and 38, were transported to area hospitals in stable conditions.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives T. Forsythe and C. Brown reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting  in the parking area at the above address and learned a verbal altercation occurred during a party with a large group of people in attendance.  Four men sustained gunshot wounds, including two security guards and two attendees of the event.  All suspects fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

At that time, the suspects were described only as three black males.

Further investigation identified James, who sustained gunshot wounds as a result of the incident, as one of the suspects and he was subsequently charged.  James and two other unidentified male suspects are currently at large.
