Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 3300 Montrose Boulevard about 1:10 p.m. on Monday (April 29).
The suspect, Jiterion Kegler (b/m, 19), is currently charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury in the 178th State District Court. He is not in custody at this time. A photo of Kegler is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers K. Persad and R. Rivera reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call in a parking lot of a business at the above address and found the victim, a cab driver, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Citizens in the area had called 911 and attempted to render medical aid to the victim.
The victim, transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, was pronounced deceased today (April 30).
Officers detained several persons of interest and witnesses at the scene, and also located the suspect vehicle and two of its occupants from information given by the witnesses. All witnesses were cooperative and provided information leading to the identification of the suspect as Jiterion Kegler. He was subsequently charged and is wanted at this time.
