Charges have been filed against one of two suspects wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 13103 Westheimer Road about 11:15 p.m. on May 30.
One suspect, Marquel Deshawn Ponder, 30, is charged with murder in the 482nd State District Court. He is not in custody. A 2022 booking photo of Ponder is attached to this news release.
A second suspect, who is unidentified, is also wanted in this case. Surveillance photos of him are also attached to this news release.
The two suspects are wanted for their roles in the killing of Davion Scott, 24.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Bowling and J. Jorsch reported:
Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at a gas station at the above address and found Mr. Scott inside his vehicle. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicated two suspects exited a blue 1990 Chevrolet Caprice. One suspect stood near the passenger door of the Caprice and fired shots at Scott’s vehicle and the other suspect walked up to the driver’s side door of Scott’s vehicle and shot him at close range. The suspects entered the Chevrolet and fled eastbound on Westheimer Road.
Further investigation identified one of the suspects as Ponder and he was subsequently charged on Tuesday (June 13).
