Charges have been filed against a burglary suspect wounded at 2135 Lake Hills Drive about 10 p.m. on Saturday (August 25).
The suspect, Raul Torres (H/m, 26), is charged with burglary of a habitation in the 351st State District Court. A photo of Torres, who remains hospitalized in stable condition, is not available for release at this time.
The male shooter, 23, was not seriously injured.
HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence Division Detectives S. Ragsdale and G. Black reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment at the above address and learned one male had been shot. Further investigation revealed the man (Torres) was actually a suspect who had come over to his mother-in-law’s apartment to speak with his wife. After Torres initially knocked on the apartment door, he kicked in the door to gain entry. Torres then struck a man (victim) in the face. The man pulled a gun and fired a shot at Torres, striking him in the chest. Paramedics transported Torres to the hospital. The shooter was detained and released pending further investigation.
