HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Officer T. Riley reported:
A Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constable attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Cadillac CTS driving at a high rate of speed on the Katy Freeway. The driver (Sosa-Montes) pulled his vehicle over to the side of the freeway just east of the Campbell Road exit and then proceeded to evade the deputy. Sosa-Montes exited the freeway and continued to evade the deputy westbound on the Katy Freeway service road. Sosa-Montes then ran the red light at the intersection of Blalock and struck a blue Nissan Rogue traveling northbound on Blalock. Debris from the crash struck a black Chevrolet Tahoe and one other vehicle. The occupants of those vehicles were not injured.
The driver of the Nissan (victim) died at the scene. Sosa-Montes and his female passenger, 18, were both transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in serious condition.
