Suspect Arrested in Fatal Stabbing at 8122 Neff

Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a woman at 8122 Neff about 1:30 p.m. on Monday (May 20).

The suspect, Marco Cobos (H/m, 19), has a pending charge of capital murder.  A photo of Cobos is not currently available.

The identity of the victim, 75, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives R. Moss and E. May reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a call at the residence at the above address and found the victim deceased from apparent stab wounds.

Investigators then learned the suspect, Cobos, had been sleeping in a stolen truck in the area for at least two days prior to the incident.

Cobos had problems with the truck and asked the victim to assist him, however she was unable to do so because of her age.  Cobos then forced his way into her home and stabbed her repeatedly before taking items from the residence, as well as her vehicle.

Cobos was later located by detectives while driving the victim’s vehicle and attempting to return to the scene of the murder.

Cobos was detained, questioned and subsequently confessed to his role in the woman’s death.
