A suspect charged and wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 1910 Westmead Drive about 8:40 p.m. on Feb. 8 is in police custody.
The suspect, Tarian Leonte Evans (b/m, 19), is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court. A booking photo, courtesy of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, is attached to this news release. Evans is charged in the death of Tommy Williams, 51.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Smith and Detective M. Estep reported:
Mr. Williams’ daughter and her boyfriend (suspect Evans) were at an apartment at the above address, helping a member of Evan’s family move. Williams came to apartment #4507 to pick up his daughter and Tarian in order to take them to a post-Super Bowl party. When Williams knocked on the door, his daughter answered and told him that she wasn’t going to the party.
The suspect, Evans, also came to the door while Williams and his daughter exchanged words. During the argument, Evans produced a pistol and shot Williams multiple times in the torso and right leg, resulting in his death.
Further investigation led to Evans being charged with murder. Authorities then located Evans in Indianapolis where he was arrested on Wednesday (March 10) by officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. A handgun was also recovered during Evans’ arrest.
