Suspect Arrested, Charged in Stabbing at 5342 Pederson

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the stabbing of a man at 5342 Pederson Street that occurred about 3:35 p.m. on Thursday (August 26).

James Earl Gamble (b/m, 76) is changed with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 184th State District Court. A photo of Gamble is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the assault of Jesse Sanders, 67, who was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective C. Johns reported:

Gamble and Mr. Sanders are roommates at the above address and Sanders was outside working on his vehicle when Gamble approached him. Gamble stated Sanders needed to leave and indicated he had heard a voice that told him this information. Gamble then stabbed Sanders in the stomach and cut his wrist with a knife. Gamble remained at the scene and was taken into custody without further incident.
